The Great Rettenstein, 2.366m is one of the most striking peaks of the Kitzbühel Alps and is considered to have one of the best vantage points in the Tyrol. With its freestanding location and imposing rock towers the Rettenstein is not really a touring ski mountain in the classical sense. However, with adequate experience in switchbacks touring over and above 45 degree slope gradients in rocky terrain, Rettenstein can offer a season highlight for experienced ski tourers.
